Eldon L. Oakes

Eldon Leroy Oakes, 75, born on November 21, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa and went to his eternal home with Jesus on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa.

The visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 8, 2025, at the Meyers Brothers Morningside Chapel 6200 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. A graveside service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eldon served in the Army during the Vietnam era from 1967-1971 and he did one tour in South Korea. After his Army duty Eldon lived in Colorado for a few years. In 1992 he returned to the Sioux City area and lived with his Aunt Toody in Dakota City, NE and worked for Perishable Transfer. He married Pam Parsley on May 28, 2002, and she was the love of his life. Together they made their home in Iowa City until Pam’s death in 2014. Eldon continued to reside as a bachelor in Iowa City.

He is survived by his brother Robert Oakes (Debra), nieces Renae Oakes-Munoz (Tony), Robin Turpin, and Deanna Oakes-Bryan (Chris). His nephews Clyde Oakes, Travis Oakes (Jocelyn), and Preston Oakes (Jillian) and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur W. Oakes, mother Maxine L. Church-Oakes, his wife Pam Parsley-Oakes, sister Bernadine Mclarty-Hill, brother Gary Mclarty, and sister Artis Kay Oakes-Neal.

Pallbearers will be Ray Chicoine, James McCulloch, Clyde Oakes, Preston Oakes, Travis Oakes, and Jared Swick.
