Elbert Allen “Al” Strim, 85, of Sioux City, passed away April 15, 2023, peacefully at his home with his wife after battling many years of several health conditions.

Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa 51106.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home.  Pastor A. Gregory Chaney will officiate the service.

Al was born October 4, 1937, in Bristow, Oklahoma, the son of Jessie Strim and Ophelia Maxey Strim.  He served in the armed services honorably discharged from Fort Bragg, North Carolina 178th ORD Co.

He married Terry Gorman on September 2, 1975, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and inherited five brother-in-law’s and two sisters-in-law’s, the Gorman family.  Shortly after their marriage the couple moved from Sioux Falls, SD to Sioux City, IA and Al began his construction career at Brower Construction where he retired from after 30 years, making lifelong friends. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  Al was a hard worker and loved by many. He was a charismatic and quick-witted fellow, and there wasn’t a person he met that didn’t like him. In his younger years and up until his last days, Al was a real mover and shaker and he always made those around him laugh and smile. But the best parts of Al, was that he was a great family man, and he loved him some Terry. Al will forever be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife Terry Strim of Sioux City; son Eric (Amy) Strim of Sioux City; daughter Tiffany (Durell) Strim Jefferson of Des Moines, Iowa; Granddaughters: Cire Strim, Janessa Green, Camille Strim, Kiara Jones, Corinne Strim, Lia Jones; and Great grandchildren: Amari, Oaklynn, Remi, Elijah.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Ophelia Strim and Terry’s mother, and father, who treated him like their son, Robert and Rosalee Gorman.
