Obituary

Douglas Lee McQuillen, 64, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at a local hospital.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Doug was born on November 14, 1961, in Sioux City, the son of Mervin “Sonny” and Jo Ann (Stewart) McQuillen. He graduated from East High School and worked at various jobs throughout his life, most notably at Airborne Express, now DHL, and in the lab at Eye Mart Express.

Above all else, Doug’s greatest love was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children, granddaughter, and the many friends who became like family to him. He had a big heart, a great sense of humor, and a knack for fixing just about anything. A true handyman, Doug was always willing to lend a helping hand and was often the life of the party.

Doug also had a deep love for riding his motorcycle. There was nothing quite like the freedom of being on the open road, and riding was something that brought him tremendous joy. His motorcycle was more than just a hobby—it was a part of who he was and a reflection of his adventurous spirit.

Doug will be deeply missed by his children, Matthew McQuillen, Andrew McQuillen, Alicia McQuillen and her daughter, Lorelai, and Nicholas McQuillen, all of Sioux City; his significant other Maureen Murry of Sioux City; his brothers, Terry (Barb) Gray of Overland Park, Kansas, Bob (Lori) McQuillen of Windsor, Missouri, and Pat (Lori) McQuillen of Oyens, Iowa; and his beloved black cat, Black Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug’s life was about the people he loved, the memories he made, and the miles he traveled. His family and friends will carry his love, laughter, and spirit with them always.

“Live, Love, Ride.”
