Dorothy R. Lathrop

Dorothy R. Lathrop, 93, of Sioux City, IA passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City. A Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday July 22, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Dorothy was born on June 25, 1930 to Lafayette and Vida (Kendall) Dowling on the family farm making memories with her siblings. She graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1948. Dorothy married her high school sweet heart B.J. “Bill” Lathrop on December 24, 1947 in Onawa, IA. To this marriage they had four children: Bella Jack, Rosalie, Brandy and an infant son David. Dorothy lived in various towns but settled down in Sioux City where she remained living the rest of her life. She was a Homemaker and enjoyed keeping the house clean, crocheting and gardening. Dorothy was very interested in the bible. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnessed and was baptized on August 23, 1958.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Brandy (Steve) Moore of Mexico, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, sons, Bella Jack and David, daughter, Rosalie, parents Lafayette and Vida.
