Dorothy Ann Daniels

Dorothy Ann Daniels, 80, of Ponca, NE passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 11, 2023.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. all at the church.  Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Ponca.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dorothy was born July 29, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbert and Stella (Neumann) Jansen.  She graduated from Soldier High School in 1961.  Dorothy married Dean Daniels on June 25, 1961, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ute, IA.  To this union, six children were born.  Dean preceded Dorothy in death on August 24, 2016, in Ponca, NE.  While the children were young, Dorothy stayed home until they were school age.  She then worked as a waitress for 15 years and was a cashier at Diamond Horseshoe. In the 70’s she worked at the Karosel Restaurant and witnessed the hottest new craze of the time Streaking”.  In 1993, Dorothy began working at John Morell.  She retired from CPT Transport in 2015. 

Dorothy enjoyed music and singing, gardening, and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and recently enjoyed going to Stormin’ Norman’s Dance Hall with her good friend Karen.  Dorothy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children:  Mark "Bud" (Lisa) Daniels of Carroll, NE, Brenda Eslick of Emerson, NE, Marcia (Ryan) Saegebarth of Pierce, NE, Annette Schnoor of Ponca, NE, Nancy (Trevin) Wimmer of Ponca, NE and Penny (Martin) Benton of Dakota City, NE; 14 grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron, Lana, Nicholas, Meghan, Connor, Casey, Tara, Abby, Steven, Lindsay, Bailey, Reid, and Matthew; and 21 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Stella Jansen, her husband Dean Daniels, sons-in-law Kent Eslick and Alan Schnoor, and a brother Donald, who passed away at birth.
