Donna Jean Gilbertson

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donna Gilbertson.

Donna Jean Gilbertson, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Meyers Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City Iowa Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation with family present will begin at 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Graveside Services at Memorial Park Cemetery will follow. Dinner will be at Meyer Brothers Morningside Social Hall following the Graveside Prayers. Donna was a devoted and compassionate woman, mother, friend, grand-mother and great grandmother.

She was born in Storm Lake, Iowa to Bernard and Marjorie (Smith) Beaubien. She was married to her long-time best friend Carl Gilbertson and used her caring nature in her career as a nurse.

Donna loved creating, cooking, gardening and being with family. She always enveloped those, even strangers, with her warmth. She was a woman who was strong in her faith.

She is survived by her children Gay (Steve) Parker, Debbie Lanning, Kevin Gilbertson and Carla (Gregg) Johnson, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brother Gary (Diana) Beaubien; and brother-in-law Bob Clark.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Carl Gilbertson; parents, Bernard and Marjorie (Smith) Beaubien; sister Diane Clark; and son-in-law Mitch Lanning.

Donna always instilled the notion of finding joy in the everyday. She would wish to express that no matter what, hang on to the part of you that gasps at a beautiful sunset or gets excited about a new notebook, a freshly baked cupcake, or a dog you just met on the street. Allow yourself to be regularly startled and humbled by joy.

In Donna’s memory, memorials may be directed to the Crittenton Center or the Ronald McDonald House.
