Donald (Donnie) C. Schwebach, 82, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away at Holy Spirit Retirement Home on May 27, 2026. A mass will be held for immediate family at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, followed by burial at Calvary Memorial Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors, including the ceremonial folding and presentation of the U.S. flag, and the playing of TAPS. Donnie was born on September 9, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa to John and Evelyn Schwebach. He graduated from Central High School in 1965. Donnie was united in marriage to Darlene (Taylor) Schwebach on May 28, 1966. Donnie served his Country under the Army National Guard as a medical technician in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. Donnie was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs; participated in bowling leagues with Darlene for many years; and loved to golf.
Donnie worked for Sioux Tools (Snap-On Tools) in Sioux City, Iowa, from February 1966 to 1998 when Snap-On Tools closed. He then worked for several years at Wal-Mart on Floyd Blvd., retiring in 2006.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darlene Schwebach, Sioux City, Iowa; son,Tim (Michelle) Schwebach, Sioux City, Iowa; daughter, Terri (Derek) Hill, Sioux City, Iowa and daughter Tabitha aka T.J. (Jim) LeMoine, Sioux City, Iowa, as well as his older brother, Keith (Jovita) Schwebach. Donnie had 7 grandchildren: A.J. (Tasha) LeMoine; Kelby LeMoine; Alison (Jake Allen) Schwebach; Kasha (Brent) O’Connor; Mollie Schwebach; Emilea (Thomas) Landkamer and Jake Schwebach. Donnie had two great grandchildren: Rylea O’Connor and Aaliyah LeMoine. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Oliver, and parents, John and Evelyn Schwebach.
Donnie’s family would like to give immense appreciation to the staff of Holy Spirit Retirement Home who cared for him for the past two years. Their kindness, compassion and dedication to those individuals with Alzheimer's will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation be made in Donnie’s name to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
