Donald R. Doran

Donald R. Doran, 91 of Sioux City formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Sterling Cemetery in Sterling, Nebraska.

Don was born the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Brugmann) Doran on July 9, 1932 in Hayes Center, Nebraska. He was raised by his grandparents, William and Mary Doran and graduated from Sterling High School in 1950. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy. During his service, he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii where he married Marlene Happel on August 24, 1954. After his honorable discharge in 1955, they eventually settled in Omaha, Nebraska.  They enjoyed 69 years together.

Don was the Senior Manager of the Engineering Department for Kellogg Company in Omaha, NE, until his retirement.

Don was fortunate to enjoy 30 years of retirement. He enjoyed traveling the country with Marlene. They even rode motorcycles together. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing.

Don is survived by his wife, Marlene Doran; daughters, Phyllis (Rod) Martin and Sharon (Bill) Winters; sister, Janice Ohlinger; grandchildren Christina (McKale) Crawford, Erin (Brennan) Decima, Matthew Winters; and great grandchildren Cohen and Sophia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Billy Winters.
