Don E. Jolin, 90, of Sioux City died Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bickford Assisted Living after a brief illness.

A Celebration of Life (family only) will be at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Avenue in Sioux City. A private family graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

On December 15, 1953, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in Korea as part of the 1st Marine Division FMC Weapons Company and was honorably discharged in December 1961.

On June 1, 1960 he married Beverly (Bev) Taylor in Elk Point, SD. The couple moved to Des Moines, IA where Don worked in the carpet business opening the first discount carpet store in the Des Moines area. While there, they welcomed three daughters, Kim, Tracy, and Donnette. The family returned to Sioux City in 1970. Don worked as a self-employed contractor, renovating houses (including his own), and raising his family. After retirement in 1998, he continued to do what he loved by building a house from the ground up, including completing most of the electrical, plumbing and construction work himself.

After his wife’s passing in 2014, Don continued to live in the family home working on cars and completing projects around the house (including laying carpet and concrete at age 88)! He also enjoyed frequent visits from his daughters, 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

In 2024 at the age of 89 Don moved to Bickford Assisted Living where he enjoyed working in the courtyard and giving the staff a hard time!

Survivors include his three daughters and their husbands, Kim Keilman and Rob, Tracy VanderWilt and Marc and Donnette Twinn and Walter all of Sioux City; 7 grandchildren, John (Allyson) and Emily Keilman, Wade (Marisa) VanderWilt, Julia (Nick) Tillo, Brandon Hamilton, Riley (Andrew) Stolze, and Sydney (Tyrin) Claxton; 11 great grandchildren, Tommy, Vivienne, Trey and Mack Tillo, Nathan, Charlie, and Ripley Stolze, Maeve VanderWilt, Carter Keilman, Vailuna and Deon Claxton; siblings, Rozanne Graves of Niobrara, NE and Terry Speers of Anderson, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 4 siblings Charmaine (Russ) Hunter, Donna (Gary) Reising, Elaine (Neil) Rasmusson, and Maxine (Frank) Reising.
