Don L. Sides

  Don L. Sides, 84, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at a local care facility. Private graveside to take place at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com 

  Don was born on June 6, 1939 in Homer, Nebraska, to Porter and Elsie (Fegenbush) Sides. He attended school at Dakota City, NE. He was a member of  the National Guard from 1956 to 1964 with Honorable discharge.

  He married Shirley Hasler on August 27, 1977 in Sioux City. Shirley passed away on July 2, 2021. 

  Don worked for Goodwill Industries for over 30 years until his retirement.  After retirement, he could be found mowing neighbor’s yards for something to do.

  He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing .

  He is survived by his niece, Ellen (Don) Miller of Bennet, Nebraska; sister, Judy (Jerry) Peterson of Ponca, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Stephanie Sides of Sioux City; brother-in-law, Cliff Hasler; and many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents: Porter and Elsie; and siblings: Molly Smith, Jane Luft, Darrell Sides, and Charles Sides.
