Diana L. Zellaha

Diana L. Zellaha, 59 of South Sioux City, formerly of Spencer, IA passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at First Christian Church, 701 E 18th Street, Spencer, Iowa. A celebration of life will follow the service at Weasy’s, 216 Grand Ave, Spencer, Iowa, from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M.

Diana was born the daughter of Max and Kathy (Swantek) Merrill on September 18, 1964 in Osceola, Nebraska. She graduated from Alliance High School. Diana married the love of her life, Shane Zellaha on December 4, 1983 making their home in Spencer where they raised their children, Tyson and Shayna. 

Diana worked at Stylecraft for many years before pursuing her dream of nursing. She graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with a nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse for Spencer Hospital and did private health care for several clients. 

Diana enjoyed spending time with her family, especially sleepovers with the grandchildren and going to all of their activities. She was a proud mom and grandma. She was the main cook at every family gathering and made the best turkey and corn bake. Diana had many dogs over the years that she loved dearly, most recently Sunny and Peanut. She was a longtime Huskers fan, enjoyed dancing in her younger years, and loved the outdoors, especially flowers, and gardening. Diana always went out of her way to help her friends and family. 

Diana is survived by her husband, Shane of South Sioux City; daughter, Shayna (Cory) Ege of Cherokee; grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Trice Ege, and Landon and Brooklyn Zellaha; siblings, Josh, Matt, James, Tim, Steve, and Lisa; mother-in-law, Marilyn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Tyson.
