Denny Lee Johnson

Denny Lee Johnson, 77, of Nashville, TN, passed away February 1, 2025 at Signature Healthcare of Erin, TN after sustaining a traumatic brain injury due to a fall. His body was cremated, and a celebration of Life was held in Nashville.

Dennis was born on December 23rd, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Cliff Johnson and Jean Sullivan. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1966 and attended Iowa State University. He then moved to Nashville and was a well-known singer and songwriter. He drove a tour bus for over 40 years and enjoyed the comradery with the thousands of tourists that visited Nashville over the years. 

Music was a big part of his life; he was a self-taught musician and he always had a song in his heart. He was a prolific songwriter and composed hundreds of songs, some of which were published and performed by other artists. Some of his music can be found on You Tube, notably, "Music in Me" (written for his mother). He was a wonderful father, son, and brother. He enjoyed his children immensely. He was full of joy and laughter. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family and all those who were lucky enough to know him. Survivors include his son, Daniel, of Peoria, AZ, a daughter, Mariah and husband Kyle Arnett and their two month old daughter, Raven of Peoria, AZ, a sister, Roni Connors of West Des Moines, IA and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Jo Duhr, of New Brunswick, N.J. and dear friends of many years Don and Joan Chandler of Nashville, TN.

He was preceded by his parents, sister Carol Beacom, and several nieces and nephews.
