Dennis Lee Burson

Dennis Lee Burson, 79 of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023.  A Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Whispering Creek Golf Club, 6500 Whispering Creek Dr, Sioux City, IA from 5:30 to 9:00 P.M. 

Dennis was born the son of Harlan and Maynon (Hall) Burson on August 10, 1943 in Onawa, Iowa.  He graduated from Central High School in 1963.  Dennis married Darlene Schwartz on February 5, 1967.  They made their home in Sioux City.

Dennis had been in the trucking industry for 40 years.  He co-owned H Burson & Son with his father, then owned Four Burs Inc. when his father retired. After retirement, Dennis and Darlene sold their home and traveled the countryside in their motorhome for 9 years.  

He enjoyed time with his family, especially their Saturday morning “Breakfast Club”.  He also liked to fish and rummage.  He was always looking for forgotten treasures.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Darlene Burson of Sioux City; children, Dennis Burson, Jr., Wendy Steemken, Holly (Scott) McManigal, and Reed (Barbara) Burson all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Tanner, Paula, Madison, Vincent, Emily, Tucker, Bailey, Fritz, and Reed, Jr.; great-grandson, Xander; sisters, Diane Hirschbach and Debbie (Bruce) Hundertmark; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Chuck) Fellom and Barb Schwartz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jason.
