Dennie was born on August 28, 1946, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of John and Peggy (Waddell) Yingst.

Dennie's journey was marked by dedication and hard work. After graduating from Central High School, he was drafted into the Air Force and honorably served his country from 1965 to 1967. Following his military service, Dennie embarked on a fulfilling career as a Production Manager at Purina Mills for over four decades until January of 2010. His commitment and passion for his work left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  Dennie married Shelia Marie Mulhair on July 25, 1975, in Sioux City.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dennie was known for his vibrant personality. Described as stubborn yet endearing, he had a knack for making friends wherever he went. His hobbies included golfing (with multiple holes in one to his name), annual trips to Mexico, watching baseball games, rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, cruising in his Corvette, and enthusiastically attending his grandchildren's activities.

In his personal life, Dennie found profound joy in the company of family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Shelia Yingst; children: Chris (Roy) Rios of Sioux Falls, SD, Angie (Andy) Sipple of Albertville, MN, Nancy (Grant) Marquardt of Sioux Falls SD ,and Shane (Jennifer) Yingst of Whiting IA; grandchildren: Trever, Tristan, Cece, Luke, Gabby, Alex, Mary, Nathan, Viggo, Eli, Colin, Clayton, and Braeden; great grandchildren: Gabe, Rhanesmae, and Balefire; siblings Delight Kretlow, Dave (Chrissy) Yingst, and Dan (Jill) Yingst; along with many more relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.
