Delores M. “Dee” Weaver

Delores M. “Dee” Weaver, 92 of Sioux City, passed away peacefully from this life at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, April 28, 2024.  Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception (with light refreshments), with family present, at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings Street, Sioux City from Noon until 1:30 p.m.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Delores Mae Weaver was born in Sioux City on January 11, 1932, the second daughter of George and Dorothy (Newman) Gray.  She attended Sioux City Schools and married Donald Guy Weaver on October 1, 1949.  To this marriage four children were born.   Dee spent her entire life in Sioux City.   As a homemaker for 25 years, she occasionally worked at Katz and Toller Drug Stores, Polaykoff and Boulevard Food Stores, and later at J.C. Penny.  After divorce, she went back to school, and had a 13-year career in the city assessor’s office, retiring in 1990.

Dee was very proud of her home and her flowers.  She enjoyed cards, board games, and sweeping the Bingo games at the Heritage at Northern Hills, which she called home for nearly 15 years.  The dedicated and loving staff enriched her later years beyond measure.  She was one of their family as well.  The family is truly thankful for her time there.   Hospice of the Midwest was there for us in her final month, greatly helping her transition and the family.

Survivors include a daughter Linda of Temecula, California; sons Doug (Garnett) of Omaha and Texas, Lance of Poway, California, and Bruce (Heather) of Sioux City; grandchildren Megan (Brad) Riechmann, Stephanie Weaver, Jennifer (Ryan) Adkins, Steven (Sara) Weaver, Zachary Weaver, and Amber Weaver; great-grandchildren Eliot and Miles Riechmann, Levi and Logan Weaver, and Aubrey, Daisy, and Westin Weaver; dear friends Lucy Baker, Eva Kemp, Larry and Linda Heinse, and Jerry and Roberta O’Dell.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents and dear sister Darlene Kelley and many, many friends, and her ex-husband.
