Delores M. Townsend

   Delores M. Townsend, 95, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

   Due to Covid, there will be no services.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

   Delores, the daughter of Elvin and Emma (Newman) Olmstead was born January 28, 1926 in Sioux City.  She attended East High School.

   On July 11, 1946, Delores was united in marriage to LeRoy Townsend.

   Delores was employed at Robb-Ross Co, a dry cleaners, a candy making company, and managed a dress shop at Marketplace Shopping Center.  She was a proprietor for two years of the Tastee-Freez in the Crescent Park neighborhood.

   Delores attended Crescent Park United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, going to the lake cabin in South Dakota, and was an excellent cook.  More recently, she enjoyed doing sewing and alterations for family and friends, playing Bingo, and doing word puzzles.

   She is survived by her daughter Karen (Howard) Nelson of Sioux City; one grandson, Robert Davis of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy on October 25, 1999; four brothers: Richard, Kenneth, Virgil, and Leonard Olmstead; five sisters: Joyce Beardshear, Marcella Steeg, Thelma Hermann, Marie Sumner, and Donnabell Henrichsen; and close friend Edward Steeg.
