Delores Ruth Slump

Delores Ruth Slump, 92 passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025 in Alabama. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2025 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Delores was born on November 23, 1932 in Wakefield, Nebraska to Ruth Hinrich. She was baptized in the Methodist Church and belonged to the church guild.

Delores married Richard C. Slump on November 19, 1965 in Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home in Sioux City. They enjoyed world and U.S. travel. They had various dogs through the years and enjoyed their company. They had other homes at Lake Okoboji, Indian Wells, California, and Sheffield, Alabama. After Richard passed, Delores lived in Venice, Florida for several years, then returned to Florence, Alabama in 2024.

Delores loved decorating her homes and planting flowers and landscaping outside.

Delores is survived by her children, Earla (Bill) Tutor of Muscle Shoals, AL, Ron (Rose) Gates of Mitchell, SD, Nancy (David) Forbes of Kennesaw, GA, and John “Russ” (Peggy) Slump of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Christopher Gates, Nicholas (Jenn) Gates, Rochelle (Cameron) Betsch, Nicole (Michael) Bradley, Emily (Caleb) Lee, John Slump, Brooke (Rocky) Welker, and Jordan Slump; great grandchildren, Remmington and Maverick Gates; William, Charles, and Alistair Betsch; Madison and Charlotte Bradley; Hollis and Olivia Lee; Johnathan Slump; and Harlow, Hayes, and Holden Welker; brother, Jim (Sherri) Hinrich; nephew, Kirk Hinrich; and niece, Jill Hinrich.
