Obituary

Debra Kay DeRocher, 68 of Hinton passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Church - Ellendale. Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with 7:00 P.M. Vigil service at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Ellendale Cemetery.

Deb was born the daughter of John DeRocher, Jr. and Wilma “Billie” Kuhrts DeRocher on November 7, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Hinton High School and continued her lifelong learning through classes at Estherville Community College, Western Iowa Tech, Westmar University, receiving a technical student degree and credit toward a Bachelor of Science in management.

Deb started working as a teenager, babysitting and never stopped working. She did accounting and secretarial work with several businesses in the Siouxland area with most of her career spent in several positions at Western Iowa Tech.

Deb also volunteered for the Student Conservation Association in Utah, Big Brother Big Sister, and the summer high school library. She was a member of the International Association of Accessibility and past Ellendale Circle President.

She enjoyed drawing and painting, pictures, needlework, riding horses, gardening, and canning. Deb loved her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She loved being an auntie.

Deb is survived by her siblings, Ronald (Ranita) DeRocher, Michael (Karen) DeRocher, Gary DeRocher, and Jean (Bruce) DenOuden; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Twila.
