She was born on October 27, 1962, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Orville Ray Baker and Darlene (Laverta) McClellan Baker. She was raised in Phoenix, where she developed a deep love for family, creativity, and caring for others. From a young age, she loved being outdoors, visiting with family and friends, and creating things with her hands. She had a natural desire to care for those around her and bring people together. She spent many years in Tyndall, South Dakota, where she lived with her daughter Victoria, built lasting relationships, and was deeply rooted in her community.

She married the love of her life, Alan Douglas Brott, Sr., on February 25, 1983. Their marriage was marked by deep love, devotion, and perseverance. After his passing in 2015, she continued to love him faithfully for the rest of her life.

Debra was a devoted mother to Damah Brott of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Alan Brott and wife Stefanie of Sioux City, Iowa; and Victoria Henning and husband William of Gayville, South Dakota, and the loving mother of Randall Brott, who reposed shortly after birth. She was the beloved grandmother of 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson, including those who became part of her family through marriage, all of whom she welcomed with love and embraced as her own.

She was known for her kindness, her continual prayer, and her quiet service to others. Her home was always a place of warmth, love, and welcome. One of her sisters described her simply as “protective and funny,” a reflection of both the care and joy she brought to those around her. Her mother-in-law, Karon Brott, remembered her as “a very sweet, kind, and loving person” who loved her husband Alan with all her heart and deeply loved her children, and said she will always remember her smile. A family member described her as “a woman who loved her family with no reservations and was always there for them.” They also recalled that as they prepared to leave for Desert Storm, she jokingly threatened to keep them from going, a moment that reflected both her fierce love and protective heart.

Memory eternal.
