Deborah L. Garnand

Deborah “Deb” Lynn Garnand, 60, of South Sioux City passed away unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at a local hospital on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Private Burial will be held at Omaha Valley Cemetery.  The family asks that you please share any special memories about Deb online at www.meyerbroschapels.com on her guestbook page that will be shared at her service. 

Deb was born December 2, 1961 in Sioux City, the daughter of Thomas J. Harris and Jeanine J. (Longwell) Harris.  She graduated from Homer High School in 1980 and attended Morningside College in Sioux City.  Deb married the love of her life, Steve R. Garnand, on April 20, 1990. 

Deb worked as a Complex Human Resource Manager at Tyson Foods from August 1984 to January 2016.  She then worked as the Human Resource Manager for Seaboard Triumph Foods from May 2017 until her illness made her unable to work.  Deb loved the New York Yankees and was a secret admirer of Derek Jeter, collecting his official jerseys. 

Survivors include her husband Steve R. Garnand of South Sioux City; her son Jason (Nicole) Garnand; grandsons:  Colby Buss, Collin Buss, Caleb Garnand, and Caler Garnand; her daughter Jaime (Justin) Fischer; grandson: Alic (Evelyn) Fischer; great grandsons Aiden and Mateo Fischer; granddaughters Shaylee and Brea Fischer; brother Bradley (Kay) Harris; sister:  Laurie (David) Jenkins and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews that love and will miss her dearly.  She is also survived by her brothers-in-law:  Jeff (Sabrina) Garnand of Atlanta, GA and Vince Garnand of Bakersfield, CA. 

Deb was preceded in death by her loving parents Tom and Jeanine Harris.

The family requests casual attire for the funeral and celebration of Deb’s life.
