Dean R. Musselman

Dean R. Musselman, 91, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave.) in Sioux City. Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dean, son of Clifford and Mae (Reid) Musselman, was born July 25, 1931 in Sioux City, IA. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School with the Class of 1949. While in high school, Dean participated in sports as a member of the football and basketball teams. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1952 to December 1953. On December 20, 1953, Dean married Jean R. Swanson at Wesley United Methodist Church and this union was blessed with four children. Through his 91 years, he resided in Leeds, James, Hinton, and Council Bluffs, IA. He was employed with Northwestern Bell in Sioux City for 30 years and retired in January of 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, and children, Roy (Maureen) Musselman of Rochester, MN; Eric (Marija) Musselman of Cedar Rapids, IA; Carl Musselman of Omaha, NE; and Ann Johnstone of Council Bluffs, IA; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Musselman of Sioux City and Rosemary Swanson of Lincoln, NE; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Glenn and Duane Musselman, and his great granddaughter, Breanna Redding.
