De Laina Dawn (Smith) Berger 73 of Sioux City, also known as 'Dee', passed away on December 9, 2023 following a lengthy illness. De Laina was born on January 13, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa to Wanda (Mobley) and John Smith.
De Laina was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. De Laina enjoyed spending quality time with her family and had a passion for handcrafting jewelry. She also had a green thumb and took much pride in maintaining a beautiful seasonal flower garden. Her caring nature extended beyond her loved ones, as she'd dedicated her time to volunteering at the Humane Society, particularly involved in their 'Adoption Outreach' programs.
She's survived by her mother, Wanda Mobley of Sioux City, her beloved doggy, Tina, her two sons, Tim Archer & Robin Buddi, her grandaughter, Olivia Vanderlinden of Sgt. Bluff, two step-children, Janelle & Dale Haines of Stillwater, MO., Jason & Chemane Berger of South Sioux City. Her sister, Jill & Dick Lesline, her nephew, Dustin Lesline, two neices Sunshine Lesline & Lacy (Lesline) Terrazas of Sioux City, two grandsons, Floyd Robinson & Nyke Buddi, and her great grandson, Dylan Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Berger, her dad, Benny Dunham, her grandmother, Clara Heslop, and her uncle Bruce Sparks. De Laina attended Sioux City public schools and later pursued her passion for hair styling and beauty by attending Stewarts School of Hair Styling & Beauty. During her career, De Laina dedicated 20+ years of her life to Interbake Foods before retiring. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services to commemorate De Laina's life. However, those who wish to honor her memory may consider making a donation to Hospice of the Midwest or the Multiple Myleoma Foundation. De Laina Dawn Berger will be remembered for her kind heart, her love for her family, and her creative spirit. May she rest in peace.
