David Brian Schmidt

David Brian Schmidt, 62, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

A visitation for friends and family will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel at 3220 Stone Park. Blvd. Private burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.

David was born April 19, 1964, in Sioux City, the son of Wallace and Joyce (Ouellette) Schmidt. He graduated from North High School in 1982 and proudly served in the United States Army.

David dedicated 39 years of his working life to IBP/Tyson before having to retire due to health reasons. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Detroit Lions fan and loved cheering on his teams. He also enjoyed watching the Olympics and looked forward to the Fourth of July, his favorite holiday. David was very patriotic and took great pride in his country and he had a special love for Hawaii and its beauty.

Those left to cherish David’s memory include his sisters, Jeanine (Mike) Webb of Homer, Nebraska, Nancy (Terry) Doren of Hogansville, Georgia, and Tina (Leslie) Van Holland of Le Mars, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Joyce, and his beloved adopted cats, Foxie and Liberty.
