David Michael Kriech, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, five days after his 87th birthday in Granbury, Texas. Born 1939 in Indiana, David is defined by service, quiet wisdom, and familial devotion. He lived life by his motto “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

Growing up in Indianapolis, David attended Purdue University to study microbiology and serve in the ROTC program, later earning an MBA from the University of Missouri. From 1963 to 1984, David served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Major from the Iowa Air Guard.

David married the love of his life Bobett LaRae Dennehey, on November 28, 1964. Their six-decade partnership was not only one of unconditional love, but also unwavering commitment, raucous laughter, and peaceful evenings. David and Bobett raised three children together—Michael, Patrick, and Patricia—who never doubted their dad’s love for them in his unwavering fatherhood.

A consummate public servant, David’s civilian career led him into public health and inspection services. Dedicated to his community, David quietly donated blood to the American Red Cross for over 30 years.

Those that loved David remember a diligent listener who’s advice was taken reverently. In quiet moments, he could be found reading a book, watching BBC detective shows, putting on a record, or savoring an afternoon nap. One for adventure, David logged countless miles on his motorcycle, cheered loudly for the Green Bay packers, and relished the speed of the Indy 500 and Formula 1. And who could remember David without chili dogs and potato chips.

David is preceded in death by his parents Charles Edward and Louisa Baden Kriech and his brother, Charles “Skip” Kriech. He is survived by his “hot wife’” Bobett, three children, and eight grandchildren.

A great mind, witty mouth, and a kind soul who lived his life well. David will be dearly missed.

Services for David will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the funeral home. Following the service, military honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
