David was born on March 24, 1950 in Long Beach, CA to Wayne and Frances (Knight) Birmingham. He graduated from Torrance High School and went on to attend El Camino College, where he took welding and firearms classes. David was a great swimmer and surfer for many decades. David was a wild man, he volunteered for Vietnam in 1968, however was walking around with a hernia and was told he had to wait. Two months after the surgery he decided not to enlist in the war. He owned a Steel Business for over 30 years and was an awesome welder. On March 17, 1972 he was united in marriage to Patricia Finn in Long Beach, CA and they later divorced. She preceded him in death in 2008.
David was a cowboy and true dog person. He was very knowledgeable about firearms and was a health nut. He enjoyed hunting (although never really getting a chance in California), backpacking hundreds of miles, and studying wars.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons: Mr. Samuel David Birmingham, Jerimiah, Timmy and Dakota Birmingham; several grandchildren; brothers: Doug, Tim, Dan, Kevin and Joe.
