Darrel G. Schademan, Sr., 82, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M., a rosary at 6:30 P.M., and prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Darrel was born in Pierce, NE on September 18, 1932, the son of John and Mamie (Fehncke) Schademan. He lived in Walthill, NE and attended school there. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict, and was disabled while in the service. After the service he worked for Cudahy's in Sioux City, IA. Darrel married Jeanette Peterson on November 4, 1957 in Bancroft, NE. He attended Universal Trade School in Omaha for Auto Body Repair, then worked for Vollers and Sons in Pender, NE for 7 years. The couple moved to South Sioux City, where he was employed at IBP/Tyson for 39 years, working in the South Maintenance Dept. before retiring in 2005.Darrel was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Dakota City American Legion Post 376 and UFCW Local 222. He enjoyed working, mowing the yard, fishing camping, watching Westerns, playing horseshoes, and cards, and spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Schademan of South Sioux City, NE; children, Jean (Michael) Dailey of Sioux City, IA, Joyce Haines of Sioux City, IA, Julie Schademan of Omaha, NE, Joan (Paul) Barrett of Sioux City, IA, Darrel (Brenda) Schademan, Jr. of St. Joseph, MO, Dean (Brenda) Schademan of Sioux City, IA; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Laverne Kellner of Oakland, NE, Viola (Lavern) Kubik of Pender, NE; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Schademan of South Sioux City, NE.Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Schademan; 2 brothers, Marvin and Meryl Schademan; 1 baby sister; and brother-in-law, Harold Kellner.
