Darlene J. Davis, 78 of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in Omaha following a brief illness. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Holy Cross Parish – Blessed Sacrament. Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with 7:00 P.M. vigil service at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in South Sioux City.

Darlene was born the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Cole) Goreham on March 8, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. Darlene married Lyle Davis on March 23, 1973 in Dakota City, Nebraska. They made their home for a short time in South Sioux City then spent 11 years in Sergeant Bluff before settling in Sioux City. They spent 44 years together before Lyle passed in 2017.

Darlene worked for MCI for 6 years and at the Dakota County Courthouse for 11 years.

She was a loyal sports fan. She and Lyle had season tickets to the Musketeers games for many years. She was also a diehard Husker fan and cheered for the Miami Dolphins. Darlene looked forward to her annual vacation to various places, usually with one or more grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with. She also enjoyed going shopping with her daughter Julie, and watching the Dolphins play at the Townhouse on Sundays.

Darlene is survived by her children, Julie (Mark) Smith and Connie Brown; grandchildren, Tyler (Alexia), Amanda, Sara (Daniel), and Michael; great-grandchildren, Kaelynn, Cecelia, Caitlynn, Charli, and Cayden; siblings, Fred Goreham and Margaret Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; and siblings, Lucy, Donna, Virgil, and Lloyd.
