Daniel William Saunders

October 16, 1959 — November 14, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Dan William “Hank” “Pops” Saunders, 66 of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, peacefully at his home after a courageous battle against pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned currently for Hank. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.

Hank was born on October 16, 1959 to Earl and Mary (Cole) Saunders in Sioux City, Iowa. Following his education, he became an iron worker, which, besides his three children, was one of his proudest accomplishments. Hank was a very crafty guy, loved his cars and trucks. Not only admiring them, but working and tinkering on them. Pops loved “Goodwilling” where he would get satisfaction in finding rare items at great prices!

Pops was a great guy. He was extremely funny with an infectious personality and would “give the shirt off his back” if you needed help. He was the type of guy who reminded you to look for the light in tough situations, who never took himself too seriously, or situations too seriously. Hank would just remind you to laugh, worry less, and “let it go” because life is too short!

Hank is survived by his son Travis H. Caskey and daughter Dani (Domanika C. Harris) Saunders; the mother of his children Tanya Caskey; brothers and sisters Rick, Steve, Judy, Debbi, Kathy, Bruce, and Dave; grandchildren Jordan Saunders, Anna, Payton, Travis Caskey, Jr. and Paige McPeek.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Sara Sue Saunders in 2021.
