Daniel G. Greeny, Sr., 78 of Allen, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his home comforted by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Nebraska with Father Mark Beran as Celebrant. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the Mass at the Church. Interment will be at a later date at the Roseville, Iowa Cemetery. Dan was born on November 14, 1946 in Sioux City to Verdell and Edna (Scott) Greeny. He graduated high school in 1965 after which he enlisted to the United States Army in January of 1966. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1969, Dan then joined the United States Post Office as a Letter Carrier. Dan married Shirley Banys in April of 1970. Shirley died in 1986. He married Marlene Kolbet in 1989 and the couple moved to their home in rural Allen, Nebraska in 1991. Dan retired from Postal Service in 1992.
Dan was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardner. He was one who enjoyed wherever his dreams would take him.
Dan is survived by his wife Marlene of Allen, Nebraska; three daughters; one son; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchilden
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and one great-grandchild.
