Dale Thomas Bosse, 65 of Westfield, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends after a long courageous battle of stage four pancreatic cancer. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 7 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church in Jefferson, SD with Fr. Joe Vogel celebrating. Visitation will be Friday, September 6 from 5 – 7 P.M., with a vigil service at 7 P.M. all held at the church.

Dale was born December 3, 1958 in Sioux City, Iowa to Douglas and Sylvia “Tibby” (Chicoine) Bosse. He was raised and lived near Jefferson, South Dakota for 32 years before moving to rural Westfield, Iowa.

Dale was an avid member of St. Peter’s Church in Jefferson, SD. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School as a youth, then went to Jefferson High School till his sophomore year, graduating from Heelan High School in 1977.

In 1977, Dale went to Rinehart Taxidermy School in Wisconsin to learn the art of preparing animals with lifelike effect. He worked alongside his brother, Glenn for many years, before moving and opening his own business in Westfield under Dale Bosse Taxidermy. He mounted numerous mounts for many loyal customers as well as competed in several taxidermy competitions. Dale also enjoyed farming on the family farm since 1982.

Dale’s love for the outdoors was evident. He truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and passed that passion onto his children. Dale would rarely be found without his loyal dog companion Chester, who would always be found by his side while hunting or at the front of the boat while fishing. He was passionate about teaching kids about hunter safety and was an instructor for many years. Dale was a member of Jaycees in Jefferson, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Whitetails Unlimited. Dale was also part of the Missouri Raft Regatta starting in 1979, where he spent several summers raft racing with George Norton, Dutch Peterson and Tom Corio.

On August 24, 1991, Dale married Annette Mandicino at St. Peter’s Church in Jefferson, SD. They celebrated thirty-three beautiful years of marriage and raised four children. Dale was a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Annette Bosse of Westfield, IA; daughter, Tiffany (Kurt) Malcore of Minnetonka, MN; sons, Cody (Kamber) Bosse of Colton, SD, Zach Bosse of Jefferson, SD and Cpl. Jeremy Bosse currently in Iwakuni, Japan; brother, Glenn (Connie) Bosse, nieces, Ashleigh (Justin) Keegan, and Kara (Nick) Meisinger; sister, Janice Albright (Craig Byrne); nephew, Shane (Michelle) Bosse and niece, Suzette Pence; mother in-law, Diane Mandicino, brothers-in-law, Jim Mandicino, and Jeff (Sherri) Mandicino; and sister-in-law, Shellie Mandicino; as well as other many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Sylvia (Tibby) Bosse; father-in-law, James Mandicino Jr.; brother-in-law, Steve Albright; and great nephew, Westley Meisinger.

Honorary Pallbearers will be George Norton, Dutch Peterson, Mike Allard, Steve Smith, Tim Dailey and Ray Kayl.

We would like to specially thank Dr. Nancy Schenk, Dr. Heidi McKeon and CNP Kelci Stoltenberg, for their wonderful care and guidance during Dale’s treatment. To the staff at Avera Prairie Oncology and Infusion Center, Floyd Valley Infusion Center, Southdale Emergency Department and ICU, Home Health Care Unity Point and Hospice of St. Croix, you have all been a blessing to us. Your care towards Dale was absolutely incredible. We thank you all!
