Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Deacon Patricia Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation, with family and caregivers present, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Crystal was born on November 4, 1950 in Sioux City to Carl and Louella (Ridgeway) Taylor. She received her education in the Iowa School System before entering the workforce. She held many vocational jobs, including working for Goodwill Industries and New Perspectives, Inc. in Sioux City. Some of the jobs she talked about most included working in a hospital laundry facility, various janitorial services, sorting hangers for a local uniform company, and others. Crystal then retired and enjoyed participating in leisure activities with her friends at either Goodwill Industries or New Perspectives, Inc.
Crystal loved a good party! She loved listening to music and going to dances and holiday get-togethers. She enjoyed shopping, getting her nails done, watching Gunsmoke and other “cowboy shows”, coloring, crafting, BINGO, socializing with her friends, spending time with her brother and family, and calling everyone she knew to tell them about her accomplishments. Crystal lived life to the fullest!
No matter where she went, people referred to her as a sweetheart. She was quick-witted, funny, caring, and a little sassy. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it and make sure everyone knew. Crystal leaned on and confided in those she felt most close to, to share in stories about her life…past, present, and future. Some of her greatest accomplishments include: being independent – she was so proud of getting her own apartment at Mid-Step and was the sole resident of that apartment for the past 21 years. Crystal valued friendships, her brother and family, and her special friends. She was so kind. She was a proud cat mom but loved all animals. She was amazing at coloring and was always proud of her artwork. Crystal also talked a lot about her trip to Graceland, in Memphis, where she got to see all of Elvis’ things.
She is survived by her brother Don (Pat) Taylor; niece Shelly Britton; nephews Buddy Taylor and Jeff Taylor; several other great nieces and nephews; special friends Jennifer Kvidera, Karen Horky, Joan Walker, and Dan Klimeck. Other special friends left to honor her memory include Lina, Ailyn, Divine, Erick, Keelie, Judi, Payton, Megan, Xotichil, Jeannie, Karina, and Shannon. All of these folks meant the world to Crystal and she did everything she could to show her appreciation and love for them. She did this by giving gifts, visiting/hanging out, asking about their families, making coloring pages, or other crafts for them, or calling on the phone to check in, and so much more.
Crystal was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Margret Armstrong (who helped care for Crystal as a child) and her beloved cat Susie.
Special Thanks to those who have been apart of Crystal's journey and success. She was so happy! To honor Crystal's memory, please consider donating time and/or monetary gifts to any of Sioux City's Animal Rescues or Mid-Step Services.
