Cory Michael “Moose” Mozak, age 41, of Sioux City passed away on May 23, 2026. The family will have a private burial at Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 10th at Two Rivers Golf Club from 4:00-7:00pm.

Cory was born on September 28, 1984, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Jeanne (Hansen) and Tim Mozak. He attended East High School and played junior hockey in Helena, MT. He then attended the University of Wisconsin–Stout, where he played hockey before eventually returning home to Sioux City. Back in Siouxland, he continued sharing his passion for the game through coaching with Siouxland Youth Hockey and the Sioux City Metros alongside his brothers.

Cory married Nicole McSweeney in August of 2013, and together they had three amazing children: Kennedey, Kerrigan, and Collin. His children were the pride and joy of his life and what he considered his greatest accomplishment.

He worked at the family business, Mozak’s Furniture & Flooring, before later working for Shaw Industries, a position that brought his family to St. Louis.

Cory was known for his larger-than-life personality. He was fun to be around, endlessly charming, charismatic, and had a way of lighting up every room he entered. He made friends easily and left lasting impressions on those lucky enough to know him. Beneath his outgoing spirit was a deep love for his family and especially for his children.

He is survived by his children, Kennedey, Kerrigan, and Collin Mozak; his mother, Jeanne (Hansen); his father, Tim Mozak; his brothers, Brant (Ashley) Mozak and Trent Mozak; his stepmother, Tracey Mozak; his stepbrothers, Keaton Rowe and Hunter (Tessa) Rowe; and his beloved nephews, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Tootie Edwards; grandfathers, Tom Edwards, Ron Mozak, and Dale Hansen; and his uncle, Todd Mozak.

Cory’s family hopes he will be remembered not for his struggles but for his laughter, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to so many throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund established in Cory’s name at Siouxland Youth Hockey. https://www.siouxcityhockey.com/donate
