Connie S. Peterson

Connie Sue Peterson, 76, of Lawton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa, with Dale Smith officiating. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Connie will be laid to rest at Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton immediately following the funeral service.

Connie was born on November 6, 1948, in Oakland City, Indiana, to Lawrence Johnson and Leona Richards. She was raised in Davenport, Iowa, where she lived with her mother, Leona, and step-father Carl Richards. She graduated from West High School in Davenport and later attended beauty school.

On December 10, 1967, Connie married Dale Peterson in Davenport. The couple made their home in Lawton, Iowa, before relocating to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to family. There, they co-founded and operated a printing business together. Eventually, they returned to Lawton to once again be near loved ones.

Connie was a woman of deep faith and quiet strength. Her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren. In both Missouri and Iowa, she and Dale were faithful churchgoers and cherished the fellowship of their church families. Connie will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and enduring devotion to her family and friends.

She is survived by her children:

Angela (John) Christen

Todd (Kristin) Peterson, and their son Elijah

Tana (John) Larson, and her children: Zoey (Sam) Jordison and their son Ari, Briggs Gard, Larson Gard, Enoch Gard, and Tansey Gard

Rhett (Pat) Peterson

Chase Peterson

She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Rhoades, and many extended family members and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Terry Peterson; her parents, Lawrence Johnson and Leona Richards; her step-father, Carl Richards; her sister, Bonnie Jo Phillips; her brothers, Wendell and John Phillips.
