Sioux City

Connie M. Mandicino, 86 of Sioux City passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024. A visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Private family burial will be at Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland. 

Connie was born the daughter of Edwin and Lois (Blankenhorn) Myers on October 5, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in the Smithland area and had fond memories of the time spent with her grandparents during her childhood. She graduated from Central High School in 1955. Connie married Robert Mandicino on February 10, 1962 in Lawton, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux City but did spend a short time in California.

Connie stayed home to raise the children. She developed a special bond with each of them and in more recent years, she enjoyed going to lunch, shopping or taking a trip with her children. She also enjoyed gardening with her grandparents in her younger years. After the kids were raised, she traveled with Robert frequently to visit her son and his family in Texas. They also made several trips to California, Las Vegas, and Reno. 

Connie is survived by her children, Randy Rasmussen of Galveston, Texas, Julie (Ronald) Sampson, Bobbie (Matthew) Johnson, and Deanna (Tim) Mandicino-Graves all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Holly, Ronnie, Jr., Mandee, Courtney, Matthew Jr., Lynnzee, and Breanna; and great-grandchildren, Dominic, Caiden, Liam, Brooklynn, Isabella, Levi, Chandler, Isaac, and Josephine. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brother, Dave; and granddaughters in infancy, Amanda and Ashley.
