Clinton Scott Utech

Sioux City

Clinton Scott Utech, 96 of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 18, 2024. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Calvary Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Clint was born October 28, 1927, to Herman and Lois (Scott) Utech at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was raised in Hawarden, IA, and graduated in 1945.   Upon graduation, he entered the draft in the US Army and served in the Japanese theatre with the military camera crew covering the War Crimes Trials.  Clint was honorably discharged in 1947, and then worked construction for L.G. Everest.

Clint married the love of his life, Frances Ruth Bretthauer on October 2nd, 1954, in Ute, IA. The couple resided in Sioux City, IA, where Clint was employed by Palmer Fruit Company.  The family then transferred to Sioux Falls, SD, where he served as the area salesman.  In 1959, the family moved back to Sioux City, where he was employed by Bekins Moving & Storage as a salesman. In 1966, Clint became self-employed and started Bel-Aire Moving & Storage and retired in 1989. After retirement, he was employed part-time for United Van Lines.

Clint enjoyed gardening (often giving most away to family and friends), college football, mall-walking, antique collecting, coffee with his friends, and playing league golf until 92 years old.  

Clint is survived by his children, Stewart (Julie) Utech, Scott (Cindy) Utech, Anita Utech, and Brett (Lisa) Utech; daughter-in-law, Jane Utech; sisters, Genevieve (Robert) Busch and Lois Jean Kauffman; brother, Ron Utech; grandchildren, Melissa, Corey, Haylee, Kyle, Lindsay, Jordan, Anna, and Jarred; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Noah, Natalee, Libertee, Adelynn, Savannah, Dalton, Kelan, Eastyn, Khloee, Zack, Payton. 

Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; parents; his brother, Frank; sister, Charlene; and son, Craig.
