Cletis T. Wilke, 59, of Homer, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022. A memorial service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Private burial will be at Omaha Valley Cemetery in Homer.
Cletis was born the son of Donald and Bonnie (Skow) Wilke on October 15, 1962 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Homer and graduated from Homer High School in 1981. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1986 and obtained his master’s degree in education from Wayne State College.
Cletis taught Business Education classes in California before coming back to Nebraska to teach at Winnebago, Newcastle, and Logan View. He also taught at Tripoli, Iowa and then substitute taught in South Sioux City until his health declined.
Cletis enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and slow pitch softball. He was a published author having written an autobiographical novel, Babblings of a Burned Out Teacher, which detailed his teaching experience and advice for others in the education profession. He was always engaged in politics and was never one to shy away from discussion or share his opinion. He was a faithful fan of the LA Dodgers and Oakland Raiders.
Cletis was a dual member of the Masonic Lodge Olive Branch #274 Walthill and Omadi Branch #5 South Sioux City.

Cletis is survived by his parents, Donald and Bonnie Wilke of Homer; brother, Bryice (Kendra McConnell) Wilke of Panora, Iowa; and nieces, Ellie, Macey, and Jensen Wilke.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
