Clayton E. Wright

August 10, 1945 — February 18, 2024

Onawa, Iowa

Clayton E. Wright, 78, of Onawa, IA and formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.   Clayton was born August 10, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Wilbur and Dorothy (Allen) Wright. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High School. Though he later moved to South Sioux City and eventually Onawa, Clayton remained a Siouxland resident throughout his life.

He worked for several years at Cloverleaf Cold Storage, and later worked at the loading docks for John Morrell, where he remained for 25 years until retirement.

In his free time, Clayton loved fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed bowling, betting on horse races, and watching football (and had many favorite teams over the years!). He was a dog lover, and was known to always have dog treats on hand to feed the dogs in his apartment complex.

He is survived by his children: Tim Wright (Jo Abellar), Tom Wright (Deanna), Tammy Rhodman, and Terri Sexton; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy Tubbs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Meggan Kobes; and a brother-in-law, Jim Tubbs.
