Christy R. Newman

Christy Newman, 67 of Sioux City passed away Friday, December 12, 2025. The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 19, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Christy was born the daughter of LeRoy and Yvonne (Horsley) Pedersen on December 27, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in 1976. Later in life she earned a degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College. Christy married Gary Newman. Together they raised two sons.

Christy worked for Moville True Value Hardware, MCI, and K-Mart. She also did several other odd jobs over the years.

Christy enjoyed being outdoors fishing and camping in her teardrop travel trailer and spending time at home relaxing. She loved spending time with her granddaughters and family.

Christy is survived by her sons, Jason (Honey) Newman of Aurora, CO and Jesse Newman of Sioux City; granddaughters, Porsha, Natalie, and Bristol; mother, Yvonne Pedersen; brother, Curt Pedersen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father LeRoy and brothers, Clint and Craig Pedersen.
