Christine Leana Tranmer

May 27, 1959 — January 3, 2026

Jackson, NE

Christine Leana (Gibson) Tranmer, 66, of Jackson, NE, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 surrounded by her Children, Grandchildren and the family that she loved so deeply. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with visitation beginning at 10:00. Following the funeral service, Chris and Bryan’s ashes will be buried together at St John’s Cemetery in Jackson, NE.

Chris was born on May 27, 1959 in Spencer, IA to Ila A. (Fuller) Raynor and Patrick J. Gibson. Her Godparents were her Uncle Jack Gibson & Aunt Delores. She truly admired them and talked at length with her daughter about just how special they were to her.

Chris spent the first years of life at her Dad’s farm near Spencer, IA loving all of the shenanigans that farm life had to offer. She was truly a country girl at heart and talked about her love of the farm often. At a young age she moved to South Sioux City, NE with her Mom, sister Sue and brother John. They welcomed their baby brother, Tony, who Chris lovingly cared for and toted around on her hip. She would go back to the farm to visit throughout her life and shared special memories with her youngest brother, Bob.

Chris attended Lewis and Clark Elementary School on the north end of South Sioux City where she met her childhood sweetheart, Bryan Tranmer. Bryan was her rock and his family was the solid foundation that she needed in her life. Chris spent many afternoons around Grandma Darlene’s table on 3rd Ave visiting and sipping coffee. Bryan’s family became her family and his brothers and sisters became hers too.

Chris and Bryan married on July 28, 1979. They welcomed three children to this union, Jessica, Jacob and Adam. Bryan and Chris lived in a tiny mobile home trailer in South Sioux City when they welcomed their daughter, Jessica, on August 3, 1981. They both worked hard to buy their first home on 18th Street in South Sioux City just a few weeks after their son, Jacob, was born on April 2, 1985. Their son, Adam, arrived on August 4, 1987 after months of bedrest and dedication by Mom.

The house on 18th street was full of childhood memories for Jessi, Jacob & Adam and their friends. They spent summers in and out of the house, running the neighborhood while Chris sewed and crafted. This included many of Jacob’s “great escapes” while he was still in diapers. His wild spirit couldn’t be contained, even at two years old, and Mom knew it. When August came and it was “birthday” time she would spend hours making pans of her world-famous homemade pizza. Chris was always there for her children and each of us knew that we were her entire world while growing up in that special house.

God gave Chris a true Mother’s heart. She was adorned by her nieces and nephews and they would lovingly fight over the title of Aunt Chris’s “Favorite”. She loved each and every one of them equally, for exactly who they were or were going to become in life. She was proud of being a loving support and confidant to many of them throughout their childhood and into adulthood. This love of children carried through into her career as a bus driver and teacher’s aid within the South Sioux City School system for 30 plus years. She was given the opportunity to care for, teach and love so many children during this time.

Chris was able to embrace her Country Girl Spirit when she moved with her family to Knox Blvd in Jackson, NE in 2003. The final place that she would call home with her husband Bryan, children, grandchildren and their beloved dogs Dixie Leu & Sophie Jo. Her favorite season was summer and she loved to be on her acreage in the warm months enjoying her garden and hummingbirds.

Jessica married in May of 2004 and Chris spent months designing and sewing Jessi’s wedding gown. She would use the same fabric to make Christening gowns for her Granddaughter’s, a sentiment and keepsake that they will carry forever. When Chris and Bryan became “Nana and Papa” their entire world revolved around these two little girls who were born in September of 2007 and 2008, just a year and two days apart. Gracie Mae and Aubrey Leann!

When Gracie Mae was born, Nana held her so lovingly like she had been waiting for Gracie all of her life. Nana talked to Jessi’s pregnant belly so much that Gracie looked right up at her Nana on the night that she was born and knew exactly who she was! When Jessi struggled with eclampsia after having Gracie Mae, Nana was there to love, feed and sooth Gracie while Jessi recovered. We could not have made it through without her love and support!

Aubrey Leann shares Nana’s Creative Spirit and love for all people and possibilities in life. She is her Nana’s namesake through and through and doesn’t let a soul on this earth cramp her style or sway her to feel like her love for life is impossible. Aubrey arrived on Knox Blvd as a newborn baby…strong, resilient and ready to face the world! Once Aubrey was old enough, she would toddle up the steps every day to be loved on by her Nana and Papa.

Camden Scott Tranmer was born in December 2010, missing his Papa’s birthday by just a few days! He was lovingly referred to as our Cam-Man and his Papa bought him a footstool with his name engraved to match the occasion. Camden was the youngest of the three oldest grandchildren and spent many rides to and from school with his Nana and her heartfelt encouragement. Nana knows that Cam wears his heart on his sleeve just like her!

Bryar Lawrence Pojar was born in November of 2014 at such a trying time within our family. Papa had passed away in August of this year and life was never the same but Bryar is a bright spot of such joy during this time. Nana welcomed Bryar with open arms the evening of his birth, screaming “It’s a Boy” in the delivery room and lovingly referring to him as her Bryar Bear!

Abel Joseph Tranmer was born in September of 2016, completing the final chapter of these Tranmer Cousins! Nana knew that he was her final Baby and loved him so very deeply because of this. She spent countless hours crocheting his Nebraska blanket that shined bright in Abel’s newborn pictures. As much as she loved Abel, Nana may have almost dropped him on his noggin once! But who needs to tell anyone that…LOL!

Chris battled a silent illness for several years. Trying her hardest to embrace life as it was with grace, dignity and determination. She met her special companion, Rick, during this time and they cared for each other deeply. He would often comfort her with a favorite song or sit outside in the sunshine with nourishing drink. Rick’s children, were especially kind to Chris as well and welcomed her into their family.

Survivors include her daughter Jessica (Troy) Pojar of Jackson, NE, son Jacob Tranmer of Dakota City, NE and son Adam (Erin) Tranmer of South Sioux City, NE. Five Grandchildren and honorary pallbearers, Gracie Mae, Aubrey Leann, Camden Scott, Bryar Lawrence and Abel Joseph. One sister, Sue (Dave) Wilson of Overland Park, KS, two brothers, John Gibson and Tony Gibson of the Caldwell, ID area and Bob (Michelle) Gibson of the Spencer, IA area. Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Tranmer and parents, Patrick J. Gibson and Ila A. (Fuller) Raynor.

Jessica, Jacob and Adam are immensely grateful for the love and support that our family has shown Chris throughout this silent struggle. A special thank you to our aunts, uncles and cousins that made sacrifices in their own lives to be there for her. She was cared for with love, dignity and understanding. We hope that Chris is a driving force within each one of your lives to continue to give and receive the love that we all deserve throughout our lifetime.
