Chester M. Skibinski, 89, of Sioux City, IA formerly of Chicago, IL passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Correctionville Specialty Care in Correctionville, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel in Calumet, IL.
Chester was born October 1, 1933 to Michael and Catherine (Gabrysiak) Skibinski in Chicago. He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1951. He later enlisted into the United States Airforce where he was honorably discharged in 1957. Chester married the love of his life Dolores Rajewski on November 9, 1957, in Chicago. To this marriage they had three children. He was a longtime employee at the U.S. Steel South Works where he retired in 1992. Chester made the move to Sioux City, IA in 2020 to be cared for by his son Mark and daughter-in-law, Kim. Chester was an avid bowler at Hegewisch Lanes Castaways Bowl and Olympia Lanes. Chester will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Chester is survived by his two sons, Mark (Kim) Skibinski of Sioux City, IA, Gregory (Elisa) Skibinski of Peoria, IL, six grandchildren: Jacob (Katie) Skibinski, Emilee (Joey) Nitz, Zachary (Lisa Phansopha) Skibinski, Hanna (Matt Dove) Mitchell, Jackson (Karolina Slezak) Skibinski, Paige Skibinski, two great-grandchildren: Carter and Colton Skibinski, two sisters, Elizabeth Pasiut, Michaeline Skibinski, son-in-law, Michael Mitchell, one brother -in- law, Charles Jakubowski, many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Skibinski, daughter, Karen Mitchell, parents, Michael, and Catherine Skibinski, three brothers: Michael Skibinski, Walter Skibinski, Henry Skibinski, and one sister, Joan Jakubowski.
