Cheryl Ann Arneson

September 19, 1960 — December 30, 2025

South Sioux City, NE

Cheryl Ann Arneson, 65, of South Sioux City, left this world peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Cheryl was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister whose warmth and caring spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with visitation with the family beginning at 5:00 P.M.

Cheryl was born on September 19, 1960, in Missouri, the daughter of Lowell and Mary (Shetler) Dorris. She was a proud graduate of Woonsocket High School in South Dakota and Stewarts Cosmetology School. Cheryl married Paul Arneson on October 22, 1983, in South Dakota. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2017. Cheryl dedicated herself to her family after welcoming her children into the world. Her greatest joy was raising her children and helping raise her grandchildren.

Cheryl loved fishing, sunbathing, and watching her birds, which brought her peace and joy. But no passion compared to her festive spirit during the Christmas season, where her enthusiasm never failed to bring smiles and laughter to her family and friends. Additionally, her crocheting was a testament to her knack for creating warmth, not just in her handmade items, but in the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to receive them.

Cheryl is survived by her children: Brandy (Carl) Nelson and Aftan (Nate) Phipps, both of South Sioux City, NE, and Steven (Trish) Arneson of Moville, IA. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: Raelynn, Hunter, Aidan, Lola, Lincoln, Edie, Kaleb, and Charlee. Each moment spent with them was a cherished memory, and she found immense happiness shopping for them and celebrating their milestones. Cheryl is also survived by her brother, Lowell (Theresa) Dorris, and sisters Terri Scott, Sarah (Dennis) Davis, Mary (Randy) Bitterman, and Debbie Larson.

She rejoins her parents, Lowell and Mary Dorris, her husband, Paul Arneson, and her beloved grandson, Noah.

As we remember Cheryl, let us carry forward her love for life and the importance of family, ensuring that her memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
