Charles K. "Chuck" McWilliams

April 4, 1947 — December 20, 2022

Charles K. “Chuck” McWilliams, 75, of Dakota City, Nebraska, was taken from his loved ones way too soon on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Chuck was born on April 4, 1947 in Sioux City, to Randall Keith and Evelyn (Gibble) McWilliams. He graduated from Heelan High School, and completed many trade school courses on engines (of all kinds!) and welding.

Chuck was united in marriage to Joan Johnson on November 18, 1972 at St. Michael’s Church in South Sioux City. The McWilliams’ have three children: Becky, Brad, and Zach. Chuck and Joan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month, and also went on an Alaskan Cruise in September to celebrate.

Chuck and Joan have resided in rural Dakota City all of their married life, and Chuck owned and operated McWilliams Machine Shop from 1974 until his retirement in 2010.

Chuck enjoyed going to car shows and showing his Corvettes. He was a member of the Stroller and Cruisers car clubs. Prior to showing Corvettes, Chuck was always involved in racing or truck pulling. He won some season championships with his “Bad to the Bone” pull truck.

He is survived by his wife, Joan McWilliams of Dakota City; three children: Becky McWilliams of Sioux City, Brad (Sarah) McWilliams, and Zach McWilliams, both of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren: Cassie (Jeremy) Sammons of Omaha, NE, Tom “TJ” (Emily) Cobb of South Sioux City, Jordan Luckel of Anthon, IA, and Kiari McWilliams of Sioux Falls. Survivors also include his brother, Dave (Gail) McWilliams of Sioux City; two sisters: Debbie (Phil) Dore of Camano Island, WA, and Carrie McWilliams of Anthon. Chuck also has many nieces, nephews, and in-laws that will miss his teasing!

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, June DeVries; and three nephews: Tom, Donnie, and Tommy.

Chuck will be missed by all who knew him. He had the gift of gab and could talk to anyone—and he did. His passing creates a hole in our hearts that cannot be mended.
