Chuck was born on November 6, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa to Francis and Jacqueline Griffin. He grew up in Riverside and graduated from Riverside High School.
Chuck lived his Christian faith and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church after marrying Sally Anderson and moving to Martinsburg in 2003.
Chuck spent most of his working career in the grocery business at Boulevard Food, Wal-Mart and HyVee. Earlier jobs included Protein Products and Aramark. He spent the last several years before his retirement at the Bomgaars Warehouse.
Chuck worked his program and was proud of his 43 ½ years of sobriety. He was generous with his time and involvement in the fellowship of AA, helping others to also achieve their better life. He loved to enjoy life, always saying “you have to have fun!”. He liked to share ‘Grandpa jokes’ with the grandkids. And he loved to entertain as was evident at the Annual Chili Cookoff parties. His favorite hobbies were fishing for catfish and working on creative projects in his shop. He was also very generous, always willing to give rides to co-workers when they had no other way to get to work. He made some very close friendships through these acts of kindness.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Sally Griffin of Martinsburg, NE; half-brother, Don Decy of Sioux City, IA; brother, Fred (Laura) Griffin of Sioux City, IA; sister, BobiJo (Rick) Phillips of West Point, NE; many nieces and nephews and three sons by a previous marriage. Also the family who loved and accepted him when he married their mother; Barry and Zahayla Anderson, Ponca, NE; Lane and Jaime Anderson, Martinsburg, NE; and Laura and Matt Koch, Cozad, NE; and his beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Joel Anderson, Ava, Tucker and Landri Anderson, Ethan and Emmalee Buresh, and Ethan’s fiance, Grace Richey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Mary Griffin, and daughter-in-law, Susan Anderson.
