Charles James Emmons

Charles James Emmons, 78, of Hubbard, NE, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Reverend Dave Hawkins officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Monday, October 9, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Silver Ridge Cemetery in Ponca, NE.

Charles was born November 11, 1944, in Greely, CO, the son of Charles and Norma (Brewer) Emmons.  He graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1962.  Charles married the love of his life, Yvonne Roost on May 4, 1963, in South Sioux City.  To this union, five children were born.

Charles worked at Tyson Fresh Meats, formerly IBP, for 44 years as well as farmed on the family farm.  He enjoyed reading, fishing, camping with his family and loved John Deere and his Minneapolis Moline.

Survivors include his wife Yvonne Emmons of Hubbard; five children:  Steven Emmons (Deanna Wendte) of Pender, NE, Lynette (Ron) Kleckner of Hubbard, Kimberly (Jeff) Burnham of Bellevue, NE, Troy (Tonia) Emmons of Emerson, and Brian (Traci) Emmons of Emerson, NE; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren;1 great great grandchild; a brother Phillip Emmons of South Sioux City; and a sister Patricia Thiel of Graettinger, IA.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Norma Emmons, his half-brothers:  Bill, George, and Bob, half-sister Charleane, and his grandson James Van Cleave.
