Charles “Lynn” Barnes, 84, of Le Mars passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center with his family by his side.
Lynn was born on November 25, 1939, to Hazel and Donald “Don” Barnes in Sioux City, IA. In 1968 he married Linda Marie O’Hara, his wife of 55 years. To this union Lynn became a cherished father of two daughters Denise and Theresa O’Hara.
In his early career, he served in the US Navy. He then worked for Rob Ross before opening LB’s Tap with his wife of which they owned and operated for many years. Lynn then switched to working in maintenance at Southern Hills Mall until his retirement.
As a stepfather, he took on the huge responsibility of raising two daughters as his own. His devotion will be remembered and cherished by his family.
Of all of the hobbies and interest that he had, Lynn loved playing cards, pool, doing little projects around the house, writing about his life and loved ones and the family's yearly fishing trip to Minnesota.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Barnes; daughters, Denise Koch (Duane McLay) and Theresa (Steve) Porter; sister-in-Law, Ellen Christopherson; brother-in-law, Marc Christopherson, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lynn’s memory will live on through his loving family and all those who were blessed with knowing him.
Charles “Lynn” Barnes’s legacy of service and love will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald “Don” and Hazel, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 granddaughter.
