Charlene “Jo” Kay Wooldridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by all four of her children, on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on March 29, 1957, in Sioux City, IA, she was the daughter of Harry and Myrna Van de Steeg.
Charlene worked as a Cage Supervisor for Argosy Casino for almost 15 years, and later in life also worked at Mercy Medical Center, where she gained many lifelong friends. She was happiest when she was reminiscing about memories, listening to the Beatles, and cooking for others. She loved all animals, but most of all loved her cat, Clementine. Additionally, she was a lifelong Democrat and greatly enjoyed debating about politics. Her other passions included gardening, decorating for Christmas, studying history, reading nonfiction, watching British comedy shows, winning at Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by her children Jessica (Timothy) Bailey of Waukee, IA, Jillian (Michael) Campbell of Beavercreek, OH, David Schultz of Waukee, IA, Nealy Wooldridge of Sacramento, CA, and her sister Mary Ann (John) Rogers. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Ruby Campbell, Frances Bailey, Harry Schultz, Claire Campbell, Charlie Schultz, Jack Bailey, Aubrey Schultz, and Lennon Schultz. In addition, she is survived by her ex-partners David Schultz and Neal Wooldridge.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Myrna Van de Steeg, her brother, James Van de Steeg, her niece Kathy Stetzel, her nephew Shane Van de Steeg.
There will be a celebration of life to honor Charlene on Saturday, January 3rd at 11:00AM the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with a luncheon to follow at the Faith Lutheran Church at 3101 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
