Chad was born the son of Robert Wignes and Shawna Ruby on October 25, 1994, in Boulder, Colorado. The family moved to Sioux City when he was a toddler. After graduating high school, he obtained his paramedic certification from Creighton University in Omaha. Being a paramedic was a childhood dream, and Chad was very proud of this accomplishment.
He was the Director of EMS services in Akron for several years and then worked for multiple local ambulance services. He was currently working as a phlebotomist at Unity Point Hospital.
The primary importance of Chad’s life was his children. His favorite time was always time spent with his kids and going to their activities. His interest and passion in life was the medical field, since he was a young boy. He was always reading, learning and watching videos on medical techniques, especially emergency medicine. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially hiking, swimming, and boating. Music was a constant in Chad’s life. He was always listening to music and had a natural talent for playing a variety of instruments; piano, guitar and saxophone. He loved animals, especially the numerous dogs he grew up with.
He had a huge heart and loved people, having conversations with anybody about anything. His kindness and generosity of spirit will be remembered by everyone that came into contact with him.
Chad is survived by his children, Kassidy, Paisley and Kaleb, their mother and Chad’s former fiance, Jodi Wetrosky, all of Akron; his parents, Robert Wignes and Shawna Ruby, both of Sioux City; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
He will be forever loved and always in our hearts.
