Chad I. Menin

January 1, 1976 — June 5, 2025

Omaha, NE formerly Sioux City, IA

Chad Ira Menin was born January 1, 1976 in Sioux City, Iowa which has always been home. He graduated from North High School in 1994. He attended the University of South Dakota 1994-1999, pursuing political science and public relations. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Strollers. He confirmed his degree in 2004.

Chad was decisive about how he wanted to live. Through determination and hard work, Chad was able to achieve what he set after. He worked in IT for most of his professional life, as a technician and trainer. He traveled to many states and countries for both work and play. He seized any opportunity for adventure, one time driving to Arizona for a Pepsi. He saw the Ball drop in Time Square, the lights of Paris, the beauty of Italy, and spent a lot of time in India as a trainer.

Chad moved to Omaha, NE and married Robyn Kooper February 2007. Together, they have two sons, Kooper and Charles (Charlie). Nothing gave him more happiness than time spent with his boys golfing, jet skiing, and showing them the world. One of his favorite events was attending the Winter Games in Okoboji as a family.

Chad’s greatest passion was sailing. What began as a hobby in 2003 lead to buying and restoring his first sailboat. For many years, Chad maintained a slip at Lewis & Clark Lake outside of Yankton, SD and spent every possible moment on the water. He expanded his love for the water and learned to scuba dive. Through his dives, Chad saw every color in nature.

Chad collected classic arcade games and enjoyed finding treasures from the past. His home was decorated with a vibrant eclectic collection of art. Chad could identify a fair and honest person and make them feel appreciated and important. He respected people who were trying and could give grace to those he knew were struggling.

On June 5, 2025, Chad passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer. He faced his illness with courage and was surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Kooper and Charlie; parents, Ira and Rhonda; brothers Adam (Julie) and Kyle; 6 nieces and nephews, and a host of life-long friends.

Chad is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sioux City. Casual attire is encouraged. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave.) for refreshments and a time of fellowship.
