Chad Robert Johnston

Chad Robert Johnston, 45, passed away at UNMC Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on May 17, 2021 after a sudden illness.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Mohr-Becker Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will be Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4-8 P.M.  The burial will take place in Santee, Nebraska.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Chad was born to Tim and Debbie Johnston on January 5, 1976. He was raised in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He was a resident of Wayne, Nebraska. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1994. Chad attended Devry University in Kansas City, MO and then went on learning and working in the Information Technology field for the next 25 years. On November 21, 2009 he married Lori Whitlock Johnston and together they had a son, Evan Kent Johnston.

 Chad excelled at everything he did in life. He was a very talented football player while in high school. His teammates nicknamed him the “Bowling Ball”. As a young boy he was involved in Civil Air Patrol. He loved working with computers and had a special talent in this field. He worked as an IT Specialist for several years at Mutual of Omaha, Gateway, Tyson, and most recently was employed by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

Chad was a bright star! He had a dynamite sense of humor, a cross between Chris Farley and John Belushi, only he was funnier! He was always the life of the party. He had a special ability to comfort and make a person smile and had the most generous heart of anyone we have ever known. His family and friends meant so much to him. Chad had strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and he will be missed by many.

 Chad is survived by his wife, Lori and 8-year-old son, Evan; parents, Tim and Debbie Johnston of Jackson, NE; sisters, Angela Meyer (Jason) of Sgt. Bluff, IA; Rochelle Reavis (Jeremy) of Lincoln, NE; nieces and nephews, Jake, Emmeline, Brady and Brynlee; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rosemary Tipton (Cornell) and Robert Cornell; Floydene Mathiesen (Johnston) and Willard Johnston; uncle, Bradley Johnston.

Our precious Chad, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Never fear, an angel is near.
