Cathy J. McClary

  Cathy J. McClary, 65, of North Sioux City, SD passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Country Celebrations in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

  Cathy was born on October 10, 1958 in Sioux City, to Frank and Kay (Duryea) Haller. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from West High School. On February 15, 1986 she married Robert “Rob” McClary in Las Vegas, Nevada.

  Cathy worked in various industries including Palmer Candy, Bort Auto Body, Sun Valley Golf Course, and after retirement began working for Claussen’s Greenhouse (which she affectionately referred to as “The Farm”) designing floral arrangements for various businesses and neighborhoods around the community.

  In her free time, Cathy loved putting together jigsaw puzzles, golfing, bowling, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and taking care of her flowers—especially her purple irises. One of her greatest gifts in life was spending precious time with her granddaughter, Rylee Rae, whom she loved very dearly.

  Cathy and Rob enjoyed traveling, and their favorite destinations included Colorado and Arizona where Cathy made several dear friends. When they weren’t traveling, Cathy loved spending time with friends and cherished cocktail hours with her neighbors in their driveways. Her friends and family will always remember her favorite slogan: “JUST ONE MORE!”

  In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy’s memory may be made to the charity or organization of your choice.

  She is survived by her husband, Rob McClary; son, Dylan McClary (Ashley Morgan); granddaughter, Rylee McClary; siblings: Debbie Sturzl, Patty Walters (Gary), and Carrie Knapp (Dave); aunt, Cheri Archer; brothers-in-law: Steve Griffith, Larry Sawyer, Chuck McClary, and Scott McClary; sisters-in-law: Mary Haller, Ginger Martin (Howard), Teresa Bell (John) and Candace McClary; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve Haller; sister, Barb Griffith; parents-in-law, Robert and Frannie McClary; brothers-in-law: Bruce Sturzl and Jim McClary; sister-in-law, Pam Sawyer; and several aunts and uncles.
